Luncheons: Twice a year, the Club sponsors a luncheon at a local venue with a speaker. For example, one luncheon was held at Restoration in Old Trail Crozet with speaker Faith Andrews Bedford, a noted authority on the art of Frank W. Benson. Another luncheon was held at Michie Tavern with speaker Michael P. Kochis, the Charlottesville Chief of Police.
Hospitality Events: Annually, the Club hosts a Fall Membership Event for prospective and current members. This event provides an opportunity to learn more about all of the Club’s activities and to meet and greet. Additionally, the Club typically hosts a winter “sweets” event.
Know Thy Neighbor: The Newcomers Club and The Center at Belvedere are partnering in an exciting and interesting new program. “Know Thy Neighbor” is an opportunity for members of both groups to meet and to share life experiences, career paths, travel adventures, and hobbies. Each program will feature a speaker followed by time for questions and answers and discussion. What a wonderful way to learn and to connect with others!
Pop-Up Events: Do you have a fun event in mind that you would like to share with members and prospective members? Then the Newcomers Pop-Ups are the best way to make your event happen! Newcomers Pop-Up was started to capture those stand-alone activities that are more fun with friends. Previous activities have included Trivia Night at Eastwood Winery, lunch at the Tavern at Thistlerock Mead Co., a “walkabout” at the shops at Allied Street, a UVA Women’s Basketball game, and the WTA/ITF Tennis at Boar’s Head Resort.
